Community Resources Available for Those Affected by Devastating Wildfires

This week, LA County is facing an unprecedented challenge to its life and culture due to the dangerously high Santa Ana winds and the wildfires caused by those winds. KJMLAW Partners extends our deepest concern and sympathies to all who have been affected by these events at all levels.

Below are a collection of resources that displaced members of our community can receive aid in the form of shelter, clothing, water, food, and power.

Water: The City of Pasadena is opening a bottled water distribution center from Friday, January 10 from 12 -5 pm and Saturday, January 11 from 8 am – 5 pm at 450 N. Lake Ave.

Food: Discounted and free food is available for first responders and fire victims at: Yeastie Boys Bagels, Mountain Mike’s Pizza, Blaze Pizza at the Glendale Galleria, and World Central Kitchen pop-up sites at Rose Bowl Lot F, St. Francis High School, Jack in the Box Altadena, and Pasadena City College.

Food, water, and various needs: The Rose Bowl has become a pop-up donation site for food, clothing, toiletries, baby items and more at Lot F (near the front entrance of the stadium), 1001 Rose Bowl Dr., Pasadena, CA 91103.

Emergency Evacuation: Pasadena Convention Center // 300 E. Green St., Pasadena, CA 91101. Available for parking, temporary small-pet boarding with the Pasadena Humane Society. Arcadia Community Center // 365 Campus Dr., Arcadia, CA 91107

Temporary Housing: Airbnb and 211 LA offer free temporary shelter for displaced Angelinos.

Health Services: Planet Fitness locations in Los Angeles offer first responders and displaced individuals free access to showers, locker rooms, and wifi – no membership required.

Animal Care: Pasadena Humane has been accepting animals for emergency boarding at their main location and partner location, Animal Resource Center. The center also offers a pet food bank for displaced individuals to feed their small animals.

LA Equestrian Center can accept large animals for emergency boarding at 480 Riverside Dr., Burbank, CA 91506.

Transportation: Lyft offers two rides up to $25 to any shelter location using the code “CAFIRERELIEF25” and Uber offers evacuees a redeemable free ride up to $40 with the code “WILDFIRE25”
