KJMLAW Attorney Presents at 14th Annual CATA Conference
(PASADENA, CA) – The 2024 California Alliance of Taxpayer Advocates (CATA) Conference took place from December 11-13th, 2024, in beautiful Laguna Niguel. Here, KJMLAW attorney Evan Chavez spoke on “New Construction – Total Market Value versus Supplemental Roll for Completion.”
Chavez spoke alongside the other members of the panel about avoiding improper reassessments and reducing tax exposure in the process of new construction matters. Despite this year’s conference being Chavez’ first time attending, he felt supported among the attendees and appreciated the opportunities to network with so many people.
This year’s conference, in its 14th year, was held in Orange County at the Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel. KJMLAW Partners sponsored the event for the second year in a row alongside other top firms and resources that conduct business for and with taxpayers. James DePasquale, President and Board Chair of the conference, and Principal of DePasquale, Kelley & Co., provided welcoming remarks before many of the conference’s sessions. Also in attendance were judges, attorneys, and other top tax voices in the industry.
“Even though this conference had a California focus, there were many attendees I met from out of state, which goes to show just how influential California can be in terms of setting precedent,” said Chavez. “It was also so helpful to get insight from the people who make these laws, who work with this focus and advocacy, to have a national impact.”
KJMLAW Partners’ participation and attendance at the CATA Conference paved the way for beneficial bridge-building opportunities and connection making. As the year winds down, we’re so grateful for the communities we’re a part of that help us be the best firm for our clients!
